Cruise Carts | Preparing to make its mark in Charlotte with launch event on April 16th

Move over Uber, Lyft and petty cab dudes, Cruise Carts is a new player here in Charlotte. What does Cruise Carts do that Uber, Lyft and petty cabs don’t? Well, how about what Cruise Carts doesn’t do? Charge for rides!

Not only is Cruise Carts a FREE ride service but it is also green. The vehicles that Cruise Carts uses are eco-frinedly, advertiser-driven golf carts that will shuttle you around town safely. Cruise Carts will be found frequenting high traffic entertainment spots as well as historic districts throughout Uptown and the surrounding neighborhoods. Did we mention that the rides are free! There is never a fare for the rides and the drivers operate on tips alone.

“I wanted to provide an experience for both my advertisers and my riders,” said owner Dustin Adams on why he created Cruise Carts. “We take advertising to the next level by giving something back to consumers. As a society, we are so over stimulated with media, so for a brand to be able to provide a talkable experience with their audience is something invaluable.”

If you’re looking to ride in a Cruise Cart you’ll find them in the streets of NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Elizabeth, South End and Uptown from Wednesday – Sunday. All you need to do is flag one down and get ready for a free, eco-friendly and safe ride to or from home.

“The goal of Cruise Carts is two fold,” said Alana Allen, Marketing Manager. “To provide advertisers a medium to get their name out in a non traditional way and to give Charlotteans a free ride.”

The launch event is open to business owners, media members and the general public so be sure to stop by to celebrate what is sure to be an awesome new option for transportation here in Charlotte.

AIR in Myers Park | Charlotte's aerial fitness studio featuring new and fun workouts for everyone

Now that spring is here, many are beginning to think about the attempt they’ll be making to achieve their beach body for the summer. However, mustering up the motivation we’ll all need can often be difficult; but don’t fret, we have just the thing!

A couple weeks ago I met with Kerri Flanigan, the owner of Air® Charlotte at 1043-C Providence Rd in Myers Park. Air® is not your typical gym and is unlike any workout studio you’ve likely ever been. If you’ve ever been somewhere where acrobats were flying all throughout the air, climbing up and down large pieces of fabric hanging from the ceiling, that’s the best I could describe it…but on a much smaller scale. The idea is that all of those crazy looking moves are one hell of a workout!

The moves that Kerri demonstrated made it very clear how intense of a workout someone could get from one of these classes while hanging from the rafters of her studio. Many of the excercises were designed to involve your whole body vs. just small concentrated areas making for a more intense and comprehensive workout. Beyond that, the whole thing just looks like a great deal of fun!

The Burrito Factory | Dishing out some of the best burritos here in Charlotte

Over the last decade many of us have fallen in love with the fast-casual burrito that has become mainstream thanks to Chipotle and Moe’s Southwest Grill. I mean, who could beat Moe’s Monday where you’ll get a burrito, chips and a drink for just $5!? That is, until you step outside the box of conformity and explore the many “mom and pop” shops that have also jumped on the burrito bandwagon; and are doing it so much better!

Just a few months ago I fell in love with The Burrito Factory right here in Charlotte on South Blvd. At first I wasn’t sure that this hole-in-the-wall looking place was going to do the trick but boy was I wrong.

For those familiar with Uptown, you may already know of the Le Méridien hotel and its Evoke restaurant on McDowell St. But are you familiar with everything it has to offer?

After a multi-million dollar transformation and a few soft-opening events in December, Le Méridien is officially open for business and made that very clear at a super-swanky unveiling on March 3rd.

Le Méridien Charlotte Lobby

The Le Méridien pulled out all the stops at what could be considered nothing less than a red carpet event at Charlotte’s newest hotel. Hotel staff worked hard to achieve what was certainly one of the cooler parties I’ve ever been to; leaving me with the impression that Le Méridien is committed to maintaining a very cool and unique hotel brand.

The unveiling event featured everything from art, local culture, delicious food and drinks. Members of Le Méridien and Starwood Management were on-hand to meet with guests and were diligent in explaining their commitment to Charlotte. An opportunity wasn’t missed to detail what the hotel has been inspired by…coordinates, culture and cuisine – the “three C’s” as they call it. The entire event revolved around these values.
